Claret Jug
It was hard to capture the beauty of decoration on the glass of this wonderful Claret jug it has been skilfully copper wheel engraved with Victorian Ferns, beautifully executed.
The fittings are made from EPNS (Electro Plated Nickel Silver), the interior of the lid is where the full makers mark can be found (I haven't as yet identified it).
The twisted handle is really elegant attached to the glass with a vine leaf plate. The collar is also engraved with ferns and either side has an oval figural feature of what looks to be a centurion.
Victorian in era, dating to c.1890 it remains in superb condition. The footprint measures 3 3/4" spanning 6 1/2" from handle to spout and standing 12 1/2".
