Art Deco Painted Glazed Art Deco Brooch
The hand-painted and glazed resin brooch with safety clasp, in the form of a lady with prominent features, treacle coloured hair, full red lips and organically themed deep emerald green nape and headdress. Probably made by a provincial craftsman or lady rather than a jeweller, this charming brooch has the feel of a piece made between the zeniths of the Art Deco and Art Nouveau periods.
The paintwork is in good overall order, with some minor areas of wear, consummate with age, though there are no chips or cracks. The pin to the reverse is in tact but needs to be tightened to give it more purchase.
The term Art Deco encompasses the distinctive styles in art, architecture and design, and is typified by bright bold colours, and stylized designs derived from the onset of industrialism, as well as artistic movements such as modernism, cubism, and futurism. It is one of the best loved, most influential, instantly recognisable, international, and elegant of all artistic periods.
