A magnificent and highly decorative shell inspired biscuit box, with a wonderful naturalistic formed frame in the form of tree branches.

The box when opened reveals a splendid two compartment box each with a pierced grilles which open and fall down in the centre to keep them in place while the box is being used.

Dating to around 1880, this wonderful piece is made by the highly sought-after top-notch silversmith, Fenton Brothers and is also marked "Staniforth's Patent". In addition it is signed by the top-notch retailer, "Mappin Brothers, 220 Regent St" (London).

Excellent condition, The legs measuring 8" wide x 5 1/4" deep and stands 10" tall.
