Here we have a pair of elegant early 20th century Silver Plated Wine Bottle Coasters with turned wooden bases. The coasters are a good size and will take a large based bottle such as champagne without a problem. The wooden bases are set into the silver plate bodies and have central silver plated buttons. The sides have a pierced gallery with oval decoration and gadrooned rims. Both coasters have a blank cartouche at the front of their pierced galleries.

These are well made pieces but there is no makers\' mark or identifier that we have been able to find.

Condition is generally good but there is a very small amount of plate loss to the central buttons which is to be expected as this is where the bottom of the wine bottle rests. There is also a little staining to the wood, almost certainly from red wine drips over the years but this really just adds to their story and doesn\'t detract from their overall appearance. One has a thin leather cover on the base and the other has a green baize base. Both are well worn but still serve their purpose. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The coasters are 14.5cm / 5.7ins in diameter and stand 4cm / 1.5ins high. The pair weigh 512g / 18oz.
