A large 19th Century watercolour by Samuel Read (1815-1883) of the interior of St Stephens cathedral in Vienna, signed and dated 1866, the painting is housed in a fine glazed gilt frame, it was exhibited at the Paris universal exhibition 1867 and purchased by Thomas Lucas Esq. This is a very large and well painted picture and must be among the best he has ever painted. Samuel Read was born in Needham Market, Suffolk in 1815.
