Here is a stunning quality antique George II oak farmhouse joined enclosed low dresser base sideboard, circa 1740, originating from the town of Machynlleth in the county of Powys, Mid Wales, boasting a stunning colour with fine inlay, in good condition. The dresser is of a primitive design and is noticeably deep, making it a practical piece of antique furniture for storage. Comprising of a three-plank top, below a bank of six narrow oak lined spice drawers, which incorporate the original brass knobs, on a scalloped pad the top is finished with a simple moulded edge. The base incorporates a narrow central deep drawer, flanked by two wide deep drawers, all decorated with sycamore banding. The drawers are oak lined and constructed with primitive dovetail joints and feature later brass swan neck handles and brass back plates, which are all of top quality. Below, there are three prominent fielded Arcadian panels with decorated shaped tops, with the central panel being a hinged door. The panels have been constructed in the traditional peg method and boast the most wonderful painted inlay starbursts, with alternating dark and light shades, all of which is original. The central door incorporates the original butt hinge, working lock and brass knob, and opens to reveal a shaped central shelf, flanked by shelves, which are the depth of the whole interior. The sides of the dresser feature solid oak fielded panels, raised on the original block stile feet. The dresser retains its original oak vertical backboards.

As this dresser boasts the original polish, it has a stunning rich oxblood colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.

This dresser is an excellent investment and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the kitchen, hall way or the dining room. This dresser base would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
