We have for sale a medium sized Victorian mahogany writing slope.

The writing slope is brass bound with brass insets at the corners of the lid and reinforcing the base. The lid carries a brass plate inscribed H Powell. The lid of the box opens easily on its brass hinges (one hinge is original, but one has been replaced) converting it into a green baize writing slope with a lidded compartment for pens and a compartment for an ink bottle. Beneath the writing slope in the base is a large compartment for the storage of stationary and likewise lifting the writing slope in the lid reveals a compartment for correspondence.

The writing slope when closed is 13 & 3/4 inches (34.9cm) long and 9 inches (22.9cm) wide and is in a very good condition, other than some surface marks/impressions commensurate with its age.
