Solid Gold Minaudiere / Bridal Clutch Edwardian

A rare opportunity to purchase a solid gold Edwardian minaudiere imported into England by the jeweller / jeweler & importer Paul Ettlinger.
This superb treasure is hallmarked on the lid, base, & interior compartments. The exterior case is the most exquisitely beautiful hammered gold & comes complete with the original writing implement. The main thumb catch & the three other access points are set with ruby cabochons. The case does not have any dings or damage & been looked after very well over the last 112 years. Push the ruby cabochon to access the interior & you will see the back of the mirror rendered to serve as a writing tablet. Pull the second ruby cabochon to see an excellent bevelled mirror & the cigarette compartment / paper money holder - the original solid gold anchors for an elastic strap still in place. On the other side of the minaudiere are two compartments, one of which is a powder well & the other is half the size & so traditionally this would have been used for rouge, although it can also be considered a vesta case too. Both of these compartments are opened by pulling the ruby cabochons upwards. All clasps & hinges work well. Image five shows the mark of Paul Ettlinger 'PE' contained within an oblong punch, the mark for 9 ct (375) gold, the London import mark 'F' the date letter 'i '(1904) & the outline of the leopard's head (assayed at London). This super minaudiere comes with the original protective cover & sifter.
Paul Ettlinger was importer who specialized in bringing solid gold & silver purses & vanities from the continent to England between 1900 - 1920. The premises of this firm were at the highly prestigious address of 176 Regent Street, London. His business was associated with Joseph Ettlinger of Triefus & Ettlinger.
This vanity case is superb & not at all cumbersome like so many which means it will make an ideal wedding / bridal clutch & finish off the most beautiful bridal ensemble.
This unique Edwardian 9 ct gold minaudiere measures 9 cm X 6.5 cm & weighs 161 grams.
Expedited WORLD WIDE shipping is included free of charge, as is luxury gift presentation.
However, we do not ship to any EU countries.
