Small Victorian Oak Rolltop Office Desk (c.1890)
This is a superb quality late Victorian solid oak 3ft 6” wide roll top pedestal desk, circa 1890 - 1910.

This is a superb quality late Victorian solid oak 3ft 6” wide roll top pedestal desk, circa 1890 - 1910. It boasts four graduated drawers in each pedestal. The right hand pedestal features a filing drawer in the bottom drawer of the pedestal. The desk boasts solid golden oak fielded panels throughout and features the original oak cup handles. In the centre of the tambour, there is a posting slot for mail (this allowed people to post mail into the desk while the tambour was locked). There is an oak modesty board, with two pullout-writing slides above 4 drawers in each pedestal. The interior has 2 internal drawers, 18 internal compartments and the original finger knobs. The desk features a locking mechanism when the roll-top is closed. The lock and key are in working order. The central drawer features a working lock. The internal drawers are constructed of sycamore. The oak has an excellent tight grain with a wax finish. The desk dismantles into three sections for easy storage or transportation.
The sides of the desk are “S” shaped and have moulded panels allowing the desk to sit freestanding in the centre of a room. It is rare to see a roll top desk displaying such quality in a great condition.
This desk would look superb in a variety of rooms from the work place to the home office. The desk would certainly grace any home or office and a great investment, as they are an extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.

The desk is in excellent condition it has recently been cleaned and is in complete working order. There are no missing drawers or compartments to the interior. The tambour is smooth running to open and close. It features a working lock and key to the tambour and central drawer. There are no ink or water stains on the desk (which are common on these desks). Some nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering its age. The internal pedestal drawer linings are constructed of sycamore. Free of worm-worm, solid in joint and ready to use.

We will collect the item using our specialist Furniture Delivery Company to avoid any damage. We do not accept returns via a courier service due to experience of damaged items in transit.
