A rare plaster library bust stamped with the mark of Sir Francis Leggatt Chantrey RA 1781-1841depicting Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles 1781 1826 notable British statesman co founder of Singapore and London zoo amongst other achievements in the Middle East ,its known that Raffles sat for Chantery in 1817 and the subsequent marble bust was lost in a shipwreck there were several plaster casts and its highly likely this is one of the originals as there is a later copy in the Singapore national museum and there’s one in the Ashmolean museum
