This is an imposing pair of Indian elephants hand carved in solid rosewood dating from the early 20th Century. The elephants are superbly and profusely inlaid throughout with carved camelbone detail in thier own individual style and they both still have their original carved hardwood tusks. These were purchased by us from a gentleman who had inherited them from his grandfather who had bought the elephants in Indian in the 1930s. The elephants are very heavy and a really good size measuring 50 cms long 40 cms high and 26 cms deep.
