Henry Viii, Carved Oak Boarded Chest, Circa 1520
Henry VIII carved oak boarded chest, the planked top with applied frame to the border, the front distinctively shallow carved in order to produce a running motif of lancet arches, which is characteristic of secular work from the late Gothic period in comparison to the more highly carved clerical work.
