Georgian Period Carved & Polychromed Lion
A most rare English, Georgian period (circa 1750) carved lion retaining it's original polychrome paintwork.
The lion is a wonderful piece of Georgian craftsmanship, of course all the more fascinating due to the fact that most people of the time had not actually seen one, hence the often slightly unusual appearance of such pieces.
The lion is offered in original condition.
Other than perhaps expected wear & tear the only issue being the partially cracked tail as shown.
This is in my opinion minor as generally you may expect the tail will become broken & lost altogether.
Presented on it's original, simple wood base.
