A truly exceptional stationary box, the quality and size of this box indicates that it would have been made for a high-ranking military officer, a diplomat or a district administrator or a similar important person, for travelling during the 19th century. This piece is in totally original condition, except the letter writing surface, which has recently been replaced and can be changed to any colour to suit. Ht 19, W 50, D 28 cms.
