Early 20th century Royal Company of Archers sword
Early 20th century Royal Company of Archers (Sovereign's bodyguard in Scotland) sword in leather and brass scabbard. The cast brass rococo hilt has a thistle pommel and is ornately decorated. The three partially gilded scabbard mounts are engraved with Celtic strapwork. The sword has a double edged, two fullered broadsword blade and is marked as supplied by J Stewart, 88 George Street, Edinburgh. The acid etched blade is engraved with Celtic scrollwork retains a lot of original finish but with some spots of rust staining. In good, sound condition for age.
Approximately 93cm overall and blade length 78cm.
