Cast Stone Sculpture 'Eve' by Susan Hadley
A Susan Hadley large, original cast stone sculpture of a kneeling female nude. This model was originated in 1986 and this one is numbered 1/40(nice to have the first of any series). More recent versions of the model are considerably smaller and also are on less dramatic bases.
The title is 'EVE' although when it was first conceived it was to be known as 'despair'. This particular model has that presence that only good art offers, there is an encapsulation of emotion and feeling in this snapshot sculpture. Whatever angle one observes the work it is difficult to not be stimulated. The base is interesting, it is different to more recent variations of this model in that it is cast as a rough hewn stone platform, it certainly adds to the drama of the subject.
Size: It is a substantial item albeit designed to be set on a display surface (table, console etc) the whole statue including the stone base is 28 cm high 23 cm long and width 20cm, the figure is 18 cm high, 18 cm long and 14 cm deep.
Condition: ready to display, nothing to report .
A highly accomplished sculptor based in southern England, Susan Hadley produces great works of art and has enjoyed a long career as both artist and lecturer, and has been collected around the world. Buchanan and Laing Galleries are a private client business. Appointments can be made by arrangement via email.
The Company is a distance selling business and as such abides by all current HM Government consumer regulations that apply to pre-owned, second hand, antique items sold online.
We welcome purchases from all over the world, however, we do not take any responsibility or pay for import charges and taxes that non UK purchasers may accrue.
