Antique Elgin pocket watch, 1925
Antique Elgin pocket watch, 1925.
The watch has a 15-jewel grade 313 stem-winding movement which is working nicely. A nice quality movement with screw set jewels and a Moseley patent regulator. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 28,152.429 which dates it back to 1925. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some scratching from where it has been opened in the past.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model from the Dennison Watch Case Company. The front and sides of the case are in good condition. The case back has fairly gentle unevenness, and some rubbing around the edge.
The glass lens is in good condition.
The signed dial looks good to the naked eye. On closer inspection through a jeweller’s loupe, there is a very faint short hairline underneath the sub seconds dial. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
