Antique David Edwards Jewellery Box - c. 1840

Stunning Rosewood Jewellery Box by David Edwards – Boxmaker to Queen Victoria – c.1840
An exceptional example of early Victorian craftsmanship, this antique antique jewellery box was made by the celebrated David Edwards, a master boxmaker to King George and Queen Victoria. Known for his precision and use of premium materials, Edwards' boxes are rare, sought-after pieces among collectors and connoisseurs of fine 19th-century decorative arts.
This particular box, dating to circa 1840, is crafted in highly figured rosewood with brass stringing that enhances its clean, elegant silhouette. The natural grain of the rosewood is especially striking—iridescent under light, glowing with deep reds and golden undertones (even more breathtaking in person than in photographs).
Inside, the box houses three removable trays lined in original deep green leather, with additional rear compartments ideal for bottles, antique jewellery, or keepsakes. The box is fitted with a Brahma lock and patented hinges bearing the mark of the Victoria Regent, further underlining its provenance and prestige.
Key Features:
