This is an absolutely beautiful piece from the 19th Century, with the distinctive Anglo Indian style that flourished during the British Colonial period in India. It combines the traditional Indian techniques with European tastes creating luxury items for export. This Casket has detailed Mother of Pearl bone inlays surrounding the fabulous hand painted murals on all sides with figures, animals and architecture which makes it particularly interesting to collectors.. With a slim top compartment and a deep bottom one seperated by some exquisite carvings, both internally covered in a stunning blue velvet cloth, with working locks and keys.
All this in a stunning solid Rosewood sarcophagus shape sitting on bun feet,
