Antique Early 18th Century Queen Anne Inlaid Burr Walnut Escritoire/Desk/Chest

This fine quality early 18th Century Queen Anne escritoire is a wonderfully charming period piece, showcasing exquisite inlaid burr walnut. It is solid and strong, with no loose joints, exuding age, character, and charm. The key is included for the fall front only, and it features a concealed cornice drawer and a secret compartment.

This piece separates into two halves for easy transport. The later baize writing surface is in good condition, and all drawers slide freely.

In good antique condition, it shows expected signs of age, including historic knocks, marks, cracks, scratches, wear, imperfections, repairs, and alterations. There are some historic (now extinct) woodworm holes that have been treated, along with some losses and veneer imperfections. Originally, it would have featured bun feet, and it has later handles and brassware, reflecting its natural evolution over the centuries.
