1844 Silver Fusee Doctors Watch
A rare and unusual Silver fusee 'Doctors' watch. A high quality silver case with makers marks for Benjamin Green, dated to 1844 by London hallmarks. An enamel dial with black Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial. An English fusee mechanism with a stop switch function, which stops/starts the watch underneath the bezel. This function was traditionally used for precise timekeeping, it is often called a 'doctors' watch as they were used to take the pulse of a patient over a measured period of time. Mechanism made by Joseph Williams, London, numbered 844.

Case Width 49 mm.
