Antique William and Mary style herringbone cross-banded walnut lowboy side occasional table.
This table has a great look and is full of age and charm, with some parts having 17/18th Century origins.
A fantastic look with a serpentine x-stretcher base.
A solid table with no loose joints, which has drawers that slide freely (with 80's style self adhesive linings).
This is one of those antiques that has had so many alterations over the years that there is very little left of the original item. Alternatively, it could have been made up with a load of period spare parts. This being said the table has a great look and is quite convincing (most people will never be able to spot the difference), for a tiny fraction of the price of an original one.
Would look great in the right location....far better than a reproduction.
Overall dimensions 810mmW x 495mmD x 735mmH.
Historic knocks, marks, repairs, cracking, scratches and alterations, totally as one would expect and want from a really old piece of antique furniture. There are veneer chips, old handle holes and bits of trim/beading missing. The top may be red walnut or possibly mahogany. The sides and cross stretcher have been coloured with a dark polish. There are some historic woodworm holes that have been treated for good measure and the two turned drops (either side of the centre drawer) are slightly different.
