This compact is suitable for use with loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
Before WWII foil in Britain was made from tin & so this makes an excellent tin / 10th wedding anniversary gift.
Such a beautiful antique Gwenda powder compact with the original sifter still in place. As pretty as can be! The most enchanting 'crinoline lady' holding flowers in one hand. In the background royal blue foil serves as the night sky & also a stream running through the garden in which she stands. Pretty flowers adorn the scene & the trees, hedge & a bird house are in silhouette against the night sky. The colours / colors still as vivid as the day the compact was made. Push the adorable Art Deco thumb catch & you will see the interior signed 'GWENDA BRITISH MADE'. The mirror is very good & gives an accurate reflection. Much more beautiful than I have been able to capture with my camera. The light patches are light reflecting on the lid decoration & enamel base. There is slight loss on the lady's bonnet & this is reflected in the price.
