Vintage Silver Cream Jug, Crisford & Norris, 1972
This is a very stylish Vintage Elizabeth II Sterling Silver Cream Jug from the 1970s. The jug harks back to Art Deco designs of the 1920s and 1930s but has the clean lines of mid-century modern styling. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The cream jug is made in Birmingham by Crisford & Norris and dates to 1972. Crisford & Norris Ltd was founded in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter in around 1896. They produced a wide range of silverware and also some very fine antique jewellery, remaining in business up until the end of the 1970s.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and only the bare minimum of superficial surface wear that would expect after nearly 50 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cream jug is 14.5cm / 5.7ins from lip to handle, 7cm / 2.7ins wide and 7.2cm / 2.8ins high. It weighs a substantial 95.8g / 3.4oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the side of the body are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter X for 1972 and the C & N makers' mark for Crisford & Norris Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the cream jug.
