Certainly one of the best examples of this model of compact you will see. Such a gorgeous novelty powder compact made in the 1940s which was the heyday of American novelty compact production. The compact has never been used and it is in the most beautiful new old stock condition, having been kept in the original rigid presentation case for more than seventy years . The brass was lacquered at the point of manufacture which means it will never tarnish nor need to cleaned. As you can see the compact is made to look like an envelope. The lid and base are decorated with an engine turned design of tiny diamond shapes. A smooth gold tone border defines the shape of this exquisite vanity. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The lid opens to reveal the gleaming golden interior, excellent clear mirror and a powder well lid bearing the Coty signature. The powder well contains the original signed puff and protective paper cover. Many American made compacts were made to use with loose face powder and instead of having a sifter they have a felt insert which lines the powder well. This forms a seal when the powder well lid is shut. This is one such compact. The original sealed packet of Coty 'Airspun' face powder and its envelope are just adorble. A high quality item in superb condition. The original well made luxurious black felt lined semi rigid pouch is pristine. The signed plastic cover is present too and it has done an excellent job of protecting the pouch - as you will see on image three.

The original presentation case is present too and it has protected this compact well. Despite its age the presentation case is still in good condition - still sound. It bears the Coty crest. In gilt lettering " ENVELOPE LOOSE POWDER VANITY Coty PARIS. NEW YORK. LONDON. NO.405 "

This adorable vintage compact measures 9 cm x 6.7 cm and weighs 140.5 grams.
