This vintage powder compact is suitable for use with modern loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
A classic beauty from the luxury range of Stratton accessories. This 1950s Stratton 'Royale' compact has gorgeous black enamel with a silver set marcasite (pyrite) basket of flowers. All the stones are present. As you would expect from this maker the enamel is lustrous black enamel. The compact comes complete with the original pouch, puff & sifter. All the external & internal brass is lacquered & without any signs of wear. The fact this compact is lacquered means it will never need to be cleaned. The puff is decorated with the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo as is the inner lid signifying that this vanity is fitted with an automatic opening inner lid. Tilt the mirror back & the inner lid opens. Stratton patented this mechanism & it was invented to prevent ladies from breaking their nails when they opened the lid to the powder well. The original sifter is in good order too meaning this compact may be used with loose face powder. The whole compact is in excellent condition. The base is decorated with the Stratton famous all over star design.
