Unusual Windsor Wheelback / Balloon-Back Chair
This unsual windsor chair dates from approx. 1870. It is constructed from what we believe to be solid beech and elm, although please note that we are not 100% sure of the wood types. The chair has turned legs and stretchers and a wheelback / balloon curved back rest with an unusual single stretcher in the middle. A nice example of a country windsor chair.
Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some light wear consistent with age and use. The joints are solid, although there is some slight movement. There is some wear and scuffing to the woodwork as might be expected. There is a scratch mark / abrasion near the back of the seat. The chair appears to have been stripped and re-stained at some point.
The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 67.5cm high, 43cm wide, 43cm deep (to maximums) 45.5cm high to seat.
Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
