Rockingham Figure John Liston As Lubin Log
A Rockingham porcelain theatrical figure of the popular comedic actor John Liston (c.1776-1846) depicted in his role as Lubin Log from the play "Love, Law & Physic". first shown in Covent Garden in 1812. The design was based on a source print by G.E. Madeley. Incised to the base "No 11".
Reference: Rockingham 1745-1842, Alwyn & Angela Cox, pages 320-3211 and colour plate 345.
It measures 17.5cm (6 7/8") high and 11.5cm (4 1/2") by 7.5cm (3") wide.
Condition is good with some good quality repair and restoration as follows: there has been a professional repair and touching in at his neck and left wrist. The umbrella handle and tip have been professionally restored and a small section of the brim of his hat. The tip of his little finger is missing and the bottom tip of the penny coin he is holding between finger and thumb. Minor handling wear, a small scuff to the front of his hat and small paint loss underneath the hem of his coat. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
