Robert Tavener RE Signed Watercolour of Winchcombe
This is a large original Robert Tavener RE (1920-2004) signed ink and watercolour painting of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire simply framed in natural wood.
The watercolour is signed bottom right with the title 'Winchcombe, Glos.' in the artist's hand bottom left. The bottom right corner of the image is dominated by wild flowers in a style which is typical of Robert Tavener's linocuts.
Winchcombe is a charming Cotswold town with a fascinating history & centuries-old architecture.
Dimensions: Image 51 x 37 cm Frame 70 x 57 cm
Postage & packing: The picture can be posted for £15 to a UK address but the glass would be removed. Framer's paper tape and steel pins would be included so that the existing frame can be reused once new glass has been cut. Alternatively, the picture can be hand delivered to most places on mainland England and Wales for £50
Biography
Robert Tavener, illustrator and printmaker, was born in London. After 6 years war service he attended Hornsey College of Art (1946-1950). He was head of Printmaking at Eastbourne College of Art and Design from 1953, later to become vice principal until he retired in 1980. He also taught at St Martins School of Art for one day a week. He did much illustration work as well as commissions for organisations such as Shell, the BBC, and London Transport. He was a senior fellow of the Royal Society of Painter/Printmakers. His work is held in over 25 public collections including the V+A and the Government Art Collection.
