A pair of Staffordshire Lion spill vases, flat backs.

A stunning and impressive pair of flat back spill vases depicting a pride of lions with their cubs climbing over mum and dad. The pride is sitting underneath two trees, which form the spill holders, and which have snakes slithering down the trunks. They are mid Victorian, dating from the 1860’s and made by one of the Staffordshire potteries.
These would be placed either on a mantle piece for holding spills to light the fire or candles, or on a windowledge for decoration. I remember my grandfather who used spills to light his cigarettes whilst relaxing by the kitchen range. He was able to make one spill last an eternity.

They stand 12 inches tall and are in wonderful condition with no chips cracks or repairs.

The post and packing cost is £15.00
They will be packaged box within a box for added protection and posted by Special Delivery so as not to get stuck in a sorting office (hopefully).
