Rare large Staffordshire of Christ at the Well 46cms %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Rare extra large Staffordshire of Christ and the Woman of Samaria at the Well
Attributed to Parr, Burslem, circa 1850
This is the largest Staffordshire figure, II have ever seen
The colours are vivid and face details are good
Vivid coloured clothing to figures on grass at the well with a marbled plinth base
One of these group figures forms part of the Duckworth bequest to Stoke Museum, it is described as "one of the most elaborate earthenware figures of the period, fully modelled and coloured ‘in the round.
Condition is all intact, some slight old restoration, odd flake to colours , glazing and odd crack, however all expected with staffordshires, possibly due to size.
This is a rare museum piece
Photographs do not do this justice
