Rare Dayak headhunters basket, monkey heads,c1920
Rare and unusual Dayak tribal headhunters basket,c1920.It comprises a woven basket decorated with monkey heads and tails and dates from the transitional period where the Dayak people were being prevented from displaying human skulls on their cultural artefacts. The skulls have aged well with great colour /patina and the whole piece has a real tribal presence. Overall condition is good in line with its age and use.
Size: 32cm long x30cm wide x17cm deep.
