A delightful piece of Prattware pottery, probably made by one of the many Yorkshire potters in the Mexborough area. It depicts a cottage with the owners standing outside (typical of many early photographs) and shows their children peeping through the upper windows. It has a slot in the roof, making it into a money box and would have been given as a present for a child, to encourage them to save their pennies.
This original piece dates from the 1840's and has survived intact with no damage or restoration, apart from an original small firing fault to the base at the rear.
