A magnificent pair of antique Victorian balloon back chairs in rosewood dating from circa 1870 with makers label for W.Johnson of Sheffield. Really good quality examples with beautifully figured rosewood frames with good patina, carved cross rails, stuff-over seats and shaped cabriole legs. Upholstered in a good quality blue/turquoise velour type fabric. In good condition very solid and sturdy, would make a wonderful pair of side chairs. The seat rails are stamped “T.Drury” and one has the makers label which reads: “Manufactured by W. JOHNSON 82 and 84 FARGATE SHEFFIELD”.

Good condition. Solid and sturdy frames. Lovely age and patina to the rosewood. Wear and marks commensurate with age. Upholstery in good condition, a few small marks here and there. With makers label.
