A very good quality oak blanket box / coffer, 19th C.  Made of solid oak, decorative carving to the front, sides and back.  A very heavy, larger than usual chest.  In good original condition, some modifications to the interior (see images),  and castors added to make it easier to move around. Would make an ideal coffee table.
