A remarkable 19th-century Indian teak storage chest, exquisitely carved and steeped in cultural resonance. The front, sides, and lid are adorned with intricate narrative scenes—figures in traditional attire appear in ceremonial and contemplative poses, framed by temple architecture, floral motifs, and stylised animals. A pair of symmetrically rendered peacocks adds a touch of regal elegance, while delicate brass string inlay graces the front panel with subtle refinement. Inside, the chest reveals two candle boxes, one of which conceals a hidden compartment—perfect for discreetly storing valuables or documents. The teak boasts a warm, timeworn patina, its surface enriched by decades of careful use.
