We are offering this attractive still life oil on canvas by the artist Mavis D, who has signed the painting just below the stems of the bouquet. The painting depicts a bouquet of flowers on a black ground. The flowers include roses, stocks, passion flower, morning glory, a dahlia, honeysuckle, hellebore, petunia and maidenhair fern at the bottom.

We have been unable to find any information about Mavis, as her surname is very difficult to decipher. The Christian name is clear, but the signature is paler. We think that she is a talented amateur artist, but would be delighted should anyone recognise her signature or work.

The painting has been newly framed in a 2 1/4" gilt frame. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang

Frame size: 18 1/4" x 14 3/8" - 46.35cm x 36.7cm

Medium: Oils on Rowney X Quality canvas (Finest quality from their 1958 catalogue)

Condition: Very good. The canvas is clean and taut and there is no paint loss, damage, stretcher marks or craquelure. The frame is new.
