Late Victorian / Edwardian extending dining table
A solid and well-proportioned example, the table is made in richly toned mahogany (possibly with secondary timbers beneath), featuring a rectangular top with rounded corners and a warm, mellow finish that has developed a pleasing patina over time.
The top is designed as a wind-out extending table, currently shown with additional leaves in place, allowing it to comfortably seat a larger number of diners when fully extended. The surface shows light, honest wear consistent with age and use, adding to its character without detracting from its appeal.
It stands on elegantly turned and fluted legs, terminating in the original ceramic castors, a typical and desirable feature of the period, making it practical to move despite its size. The proportions are generous, making it ideal as a statement dining table in both traditional and more contemporary interiors.
