A Georgian verge lantern antique clock by noted maker George Clarke of Leadenhall Street, London. He was known for making antique clocks for the Turkish Ottoman Empire. This example has crescent moons worked into the corner spandrels and the original fine quality crescent moon side doors. The original finial and cast bell. The original verge escapement to the 30 hour duration rope driven mechanism. Made to be wall hanging or can be mounted on the supplied later well made oak bracket. Circa 1745.

George Clarke of Leadenhall Street in London is recorded in Baillies' 'Clockmakers and Watchmakers of The World' book as working 1725-1787. A fine table antique clock, Turkish market clock and a clock in a museum is noted.
