John Wainwright of Nottingham Longcase clock
A fine 8day moon rolling longcase clock by John Wainwright of Nottingham. Dating yo approximately c1780 it falls into the early stage of painted dial antique clocks and this example was supplied to Wainwright by Wilson of Birmingham.
The handmade 8 day movement is a fine example and has been serviced recently. Wainwright is a very well regarded Nottingham maker and supplied a large number from his shop in central Nottingham. I have sold many examples and most have been 30 hour running but this fine example not is only eight day but has a very attractive rolling moon feature that turns to show the phase of the moon.
The Nottingham style case is well made and in excellent condition and must Would have originally been supplied to a wealthy family.
