Great Italian painting from the first half of the 17th century. Antique oil on canvas artwork depicting the famous Gospel episode of the Denial of Saint Peter. Before the Last Supper, Christ had predicted to the apostle that he would deny him three times before the cockcrow. The prophecy comes true because, after his arrest, Peter follows Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest's palace, and after several accusations, he denies knowing him three times.

The scene takes place at night, and the work is characterized by dramatic lighting, which emerges from the central brazier and sculpts the faces of the characters, generating a powerful narrative pathos. The figure of the woman, captured in the act of accusing the Apostle, is rendered with particular mastery: the minute details and the marvelous drapery reveal the expert hand of a great Baroque painter. The quality of execution, the refined orchestration of the characters, and the chiaroscuro effects suggest the artwork is by an Italian master from the central and northern regions.

A painting with a strong stage presence and ideal dimensions, perfect for prestigious settings, whether classic or modern, capable of capturing the eye with its emotional tension and theatricality.
