The dial has Arabic numerals painted on the glass. The anchor escapement movement for the vertical dumb-bell balance is driven by the weight of the antique clock as it descends down the rack. The brass frame with a notched rack is supporting the weighted circular case.
This type of clock was first introduced as the crystal palace British Industries Fair in 1920 and described by the makers as ‘A revolution in clock construction’. The clock as no keys, no springs. Moving parts are reduced to a minimum giving greater liability at less cost.
