Gothic Revival Oak Altar Rails c.1870

Set of three superb Gothic Revival carved oak altar rails c.1870. Measuring 51", 90" & 99½" long. 6" wide tops with moulded edges and beautifully carved terminals, note each end has a unique design. Raised on octagonal column legs with pierced brackets where they meet the tops, carved detail and chamfered feet (width 9½") joined with chamfered stretchers at floor level. Could be used as perch seating in a retail or hospitality environment. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
These rails were recently removed from St Asaph parish church here in North Wales and were purchased direct from the Diocese. The church was restored in 1872 under the direction of the great Gothic Revival architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, designer of the Midland Grand Hotel at St Pancras Station and the Albert Memorial. The rails date from that restoration.
