A very unusual 19th century Chinese pottery figural ridge tile in the form of a sage riding on a rooster. Decorated in in yellow and green glaze and sitting on a later exhibition base. The Chinese rooster signifies luck, fortune and honesty and was probably originally used to decorate a temple or important building.

A most unusual decorative piece.
