Here we have a beautiful Art Nouveau Vase by Eliza Simmance for Royal Doulton at Lambeth. The vase is bottle shaped with a circular foot, a bulbous body and a tapering neck. The background is mottled sage green and white and around the body is a wavy blue band with trios of green and blue leaves above and below it.

The vase was made in 1905 at Royal Doulton's famous Lambeth factory in London and designed and decorated by Eliza Simmance, one of the finest artists working at the Lambeth factory. Eliza joined the company in 1873 and remained with them until 1928. She started with heavier style Victorian pieces, moved onto graceful Art Nouveau pieces and finished in the early days of Art Deco design. She won many awards at international exhibitions.

Condition is extremely good, with no chips or cracks and no damage to the decoration. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The vase stands 21.5cm / 8.5ins high and is 8.2cm / 3.2ins in diameter at its widest point. It weighs 541g / 19.1oz.

The underside of the base is fully marked. It has the lion and crown above the Royal Doulton England stamp, the date letter f for 1905, the distinctive E S monogram for Eliza Simmance and the M B script mark for Senior Assistant Maud Bowden, who worked at Doulton between around 1903 and 1937.
