An art deco black box. Made from an early plastic, possibly acrylic, bakelite or similar. It has a highly reflective glossy surface with brass handle and sits on a raised brass base. Inside are two removable inserts, so it could be used as a antique jewellery or desk top box. Quite weighty, so its good as a paper weight. There has been an old repair on the hinge cover inside. It has minute scratches to the surface on close inspection in a raking light. However, it looks very stylish and measures 8″ x 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″.
