Unusual oak school desk and seat by the Paris makers L.Nisius c.1920. The ingenious design means both the desk and seat heights are independently adjustable allowing them to grow as the child does. Slope top desk with a raised front edge, lift up lid with storage below, pen tray, inkwell and a small square stand with raised sides. Height adjustable from 28" - 35½" (measured at the front edge) on fluted supports. Bench seat with a shaped and slated seat and a small cupboard in the base at the rear. Seat height is adjustable from 16" - 20". Both the desk and seat positions are locked with pegs which slide through a series of holes in the supports. The bench and the separate slatted foot rest also slide forward and back to accommodate longer legs. Very good quality in solid oak throughout. Maker's badge to the sliding metal lid of the inkwell. Excellent colour and condition, with some replacement pegs, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
