A French pottery wine or oil bottle. It's my supposition that it may well have been to take refreshments to the field or vineyard to keep the labourers labouring. It came through an interesting route, from an auction in England bought in a large consignment by an Englishman who'd bought a Chateau in France. In the hope of treasure to help pay for it he dug out the old midden, no treasure but vast amounts of bits and pieces. This is part of the lot I bought.
