This is a charming pair of Edwardian Sterling Silver Trinket Dishes. The dishes are heart shaped with pierced sides decorated with scrolls, bows and flowers.

The trinket dishes were made in Birmingham by Henry Matthews with one dated 1904 and the other 1905. Henry Matthews registered his mark in 1893 and ran his firm from premises in Vittoria Street in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter. He made a very wide range of good quality silverware and remained in business up until around 1930.

Condition is good, with just a couple of very shallow bruises in the bases of the dishes plus the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 115 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each dish is 8.9cm / 3.5ins from top to tip, 8cm / 3.1ins across and stands 1.5cm / 0.59ins high. The pair together weighs in at a respectable 35.4g / 1.2oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the top rims, are a little rubbed but still easy to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letters e for 1904 on one and f for 1905 for the other and the H M makers' mark for Henry Matthews.
