19th Century Cantagalli Italian Faience Jardiniere
Attractive late 19th century Italian faience jardiniere by Cantagalli decorated in shades on blue on a pale blue ground of landscapes with buildings, mountains and trees on the outside, and flower sprigs dotted inside. Ornate split handles at either end formed as coiled snakes. Set on unusual upside down rams head formed and painted feet and marked to the base with the cockerel mark.
It measures 31cm (12 1/4") long, 20.5 cm (8") wide and 13cm (5 1/8") high. Condition is very good. There has been some professional restoration to the snake handles at one end to rejoin them to the body after a break including a small section of the rim, and also to one of the snake's body at the other end. 2 small surface chips under the rim and a few usual small glaze level frits to the edge of the rim and to the feet. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
